Pearl Project aims at promoting young migrants participation to decision
making processes and European
societies democratic life.
Why Pearl Project ?
Migrant and refugee youth face many obstacles at individual and structural levels that hinder their active participation in decision making processes and narrow their potential for civic engagement.
It is of paramount importance to strengthen their citizenship capital, build confidence and belonging to play an active role in refugee communities. Pearl Project enhances common values, civic engagement and participation.

Compass GmbH
Is a non-profit private company aiming to promote the professional and social integration and inclusion of disadvantaged people, thus fostering positive impact in promoting their social inclusion into the local community.
Our programs provide support to people who suffer under economic, social and cultural obstacles. The first kick-off was held on 12 and 13 July in Athens. The first live meeting between project partners has allowed a comparison on all the general objectives of the project in relation to the pragmatics evaluations and a strong reciprocity in the organization of work between insiders of different organizations who, while pursuing the same mission regarding the Pearl project, refer to different organizational modes that must be harmonized in order to obtain appreciable results.

Universitat de Barcelona
Research Unit (ESRU) is integrated in the Department of Social Anthropology of the University of Barcelona, and works closely with the Research Group on Gender, Identity and Diversity (GENI).
The European Social Dedicated to developing applied and academic anthropological research in the fields of identity, discrimination, othering and social control, the ESRU provides a strategic, integrated approach to understanding sex-gendered constructs, racism and racialization, and migration processes. Currently, at the ESRU, we are conducting research on the specific areas of gender-based online hate speech, LGBT-phobia, asylum processes and migration control regimes, victim support systems, and ‘left-behindness’.

Workshop for ivic Initiatives Foundation
Was established in 2001 as a successor for Bulgaria of the UK based organization “Charity Know-How”.
WCIF works to develop philanthropy and provides development resources (e.g. funding, know how, skills and knowledgeand other resources) to civil society organizations to facilitate the social development of their communities. We support projects and ideas that promote human rights and social development as a democratic practice and create positive practical change in the supported communities. WCIF is a source of expertise in the areas of Community Based Organizations (CBO) development and sustainability, community development and participation, human rights as well as local philanthropy development. WCIF is also working together with its local partners to attract resources at national and international level in support of CSOs initiatives for social inclusion.

Kmop
Situated in Athens, is a non profit organization with more than 40 years of experience in supporting vulnerable groups across the world.
KMOP has expertise to design and implement new innovative ideas in order to ensure and promote positive social impact by building resilient communities and making world a better place for everyone taking into consideration all the modern societal, technological and environmental developments. KMOP’s mission is to inspire and support innovative ideas to change people’s lives, tackling the causes of vulnerability and promoting inclusive and sustainable growth for everyone.

AGIS
Was founded in 2002 by international Science-Po Students as a non-profit association.
Goal-oriented towards the education of citizenship and social inclusion, the promotion of diversity and interculturality, the affirmation of all citizen’s own identities, for the socio professional integration and for international cooperation and solidarity. The Association is based in Paris and its main mission is to mobilize and support young citizens from different backgrounds; especially those from poorest districts and support other minorities groups, especially women, migrants, and habitants of other social districts in Paris, France, Europe and in Africa.

Greek Forum of Refugees
GFR is the only organization in Greece, officially founded in 2012, that offers asylum seekers and refugees with official representation in decision – making procedures.
The Greek Forum of Refugees is a refugee – led association of refugee and migrant communities, individuals and professionals that work all together to support, empower and facilitate a holistic inclusion process for asylum seekers, refugees, migrants of first and second generation and stateless people.
GFR is the only organization in Greece, officially founded in 2012, that offers asylum seekers and refugees with official representation in decision – making procedures.
The organization raises the voice of refugees and migrants in Greece by enhancing civic participation and bridging distance with the host community, aiming to empower social cohesion.

TAMAT
TAMAT is an Italian not-profit organization which work in Africa and Europe.
We are a non-governmental organization recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) and the Italian Cooperation Agency (AICS). Our main sectors work are food sovereignty and security, agro-ecology and migrant inclusion. Our actions are focused on gender empowerment, local organizations support to make sure that every person in every place can live on their own resources and skills. In other words, we directly support the local communities and civil society to implement sustainable development solutions in the social, environmental, cultural and economic spheres, basing all of them on human rights. To do it we work on the lifelong adult education, participation and solidarity processes and raise awareness on SDG’s, international cooperation and gender equality.
Results
–On 12 and 13 July 2022, the first live meeting between project partners was held in Athens. The meeting allowed for a useful discussion in pursuit of the overall objectives of the project in relation to pragmatic evaluations and strong work organization reciprocity between insiders from different organizations that, while pursuing the same mission with regard to the PEARL project, refer to different organizational modalities that need to be harmonized in order to achieve appreciable results. The area of communication and dissemination of results was among the central topics of the discussion: in particular, there was a discussion on jointly choosing the characteristics of the graphic design of the PEARL project and the logo that represents it today.
-After the first kick off, Pearl has arranged online meetings with young migrants and refugees to highlight needs and aspirations. Evry project’s partner has reached out and identified several young people aged between 18 and 25 with migrant/refugee backgrounds who participated in these online encounters that have been held in each partner’s country. During these meetings, participants shared their feelings and thoughts regarding the project and its development.
–An online course has been prepared by Pearl to achieve two main goals. The first aim is for learners to have a good grasp of the democratic processes and their local, national and european levels. The second part of the training is for presenting case studies and scenario-based exercises and activities in order to teach young people how they can participate in political and civic life, along with giving them the tools to enhance their soft skills.
